JULY / AUGUST 2009




SATURDAY 18 JULY

1805 hrs Meet at LONDON HEATHROW AIRPORT, Terminal 1, where a representative from Edwin Doran Sports Travel will assist you to check-in to Air New Zealand flight NZ038 to AUCKLAND via HONG KONG.

2105 hrs Flight departs (flying time 11 hrs 45 mins).

Overnight in flight.


SUNDAY 19 JULY

1550 hrs Arrive Hong Kong Airport and remain in transit for 2 hrs 20 mins after which you will re-board flight NZ038.

1810 hrs Flight departs to Auckland (flying time 10 hrs 50 mins).

Overnight in flight.


MONDAY 20 JULY

0900 hrs Arrive Auckland Airport and clear New Zealand Immigration and Passport Control, collect your luggage and pass through Customs.

You will then meet by Hamish Morison, your local representative, who will escort you to your coach which will stay with you for the whole of the North Island.

1000 hrs Transfer to the EDEN PARK STADIUM.

1100 hrs Arrive at Eden Park Stadium where you will have a guided tour lasting approximately 1½ hrs. Transfer to your hotel where you will be based for one night on a bed and breakfast basis.

After the tour there will be chance for you to stop and have some lunch (not included).

Arrive at the Kingsgate Hotel where you will be based for three nights on a bed and breakfast basis.

This afternoon you will take part in a light training session; this will be hosted by Dilworth on their sports pitches.

After training Dilworth will be hosting an evening meal for you.


TUESDAY 21 JULY

0900 hrs Breakfast.

This morning you will have some time to do some sightseeing in Auckland.

1300 hrs Meet back at your hotel where you will transfer to DILWORTH SCHOOL.

Lunch at Dilworth School.

1330 hrs Arrive Dilworth School where there will be chance to have some training again this afternoon on the Dilworth fields before meeting your hosts.

1530 hrs You will meet your opposition.

Dinner at Dilworth School.

In the evening transfer back to the Kingsgate Hotel.


WEDNESDAY 22 JULY

Breakfast.

Perhaps take a trip up the Sky Tower this morning which towers over the city for fabulous views of the surrounding area.

Later this afternoon arrive back at Dilworth where you will have some lunch.

Prepare for your fixture this afternoon.

Socialise together after the match, there will be dinner provided.

Returning to you accommodation for the evening.




THURSDAY 23 JULY

0900 hrs Say goodbye to your hosts and transfer to ROTORUA.

1200 hrs Arrive Rotorua where you will check in to the Princes Gate Hotel for one night on a bed and breakfast basis.

Rotorua is nicknamed ‘Sulphur City’ as it has the most energetic thermal activity in the country with bubbling mud pools, gurgling hot springs and gushing geysers.

1500 hrs Visit the mud pools, steaming hot springs and the famous Pohutu Geyser in the Puia Thermal Reserve, which erupts at least once an hour and shoots hot water 20 metres into the air.

1800 hrs Your guide will arrive for your visit to the TAMAKI VILLAGE for a traditional concert and Hangi. This is a feast with food cooked in a traditional Maori underground oven, followed by a performance of Maori songs and dances.


FRIDAY 24 JULY

0730 hrs Breakfast.

0830 hrs Visit the Polynesian Spa with its hot mineral springs for a swim first thing this morning.

1100 hrs Return for breakfast before checking out and transferring to HASTINGS, in the Hawkes Bay area, where you will meet your next hosts from LINDISFARNE SCHOOL for a two night stay.

1200 hrs Arrive Taupo where you will be able to able to have a walk around the lake and have some early lunch (not included).

1330 hrs Depart Taupo.

1600 hrs Arrive Lindisfarne School where there is a possibility that you will be able to train before you meet you hosts and billeting is be arranged.

After the boys have gone home with their hosts the staff will transfer and check in to a nearby Cumberland Court Hotel for two nights.

SATURDAY 25 JULY

0930 hrs Staff will transfer to the school to meet the boys.

1000 hrs Boys will come to school with their hosts in time for the matches:

1200 hrs LINDISFARNE SCHOOL U-14 v WHITGIFT SCHOOL U-14

1315 hrs LINDISFARNE SCHOOL U-18 v WHITGIFT SCHOOL U-17

Enjoy some post-match hospitality before returning with your host families.

Staff will return to the Cumberland Court Hotel for the evening.


SUNDAY 26 JULY

0800 hrs Staff will check of the Cumberland Court Hotel and transfer to the school to collect the boys.

0830 hrs Arrive at school with your hosts and say goodbye before transferring to PARAPARAUMU

1330 hrs Arrive in Paraparaumu, where you may want to spend some time on Waikanae Beach.

1530 hrs Transfer to PARAPARAUMU COLLEGE KAPITI COAST to meet with your next set of hosts for a three night stay.

1600 hrs Arrive at Paraparaumu College Kapiti Coast.

After the boys have met their billets and dispersed, the staff will transfer to the Comfort Inn Elliotts for three nights on a bed and breakfast basis.

TUESDAY 28 JULY

0730 hrs Staff will transfer to the school to meet the boys.

0800 hrs Boys will come to school with their hosts at the beginning of the academic day and transfer in to WELLINGTON.

0900 hrs Arrive Wellington.

This morning you might like to visit the excellent Te Papa development, a unique leisure and entertainment complex which tells the history of the country through interactive rides, film exhibits and computer technology.

You could also take a tour of the Westpac Stadium before having some free time to shop and sightsee further.

15.15 hrs Arrive back at the school in time to meet and go home with your billets.

Staff will transfer back to the Comfort Inn Elliots.




















WEDNESDAY 29 JULY

0730 hrs Staff will check out of Comfort Inn Elliots and transfer to the school to pick up the boys.

0800 hrs Arrive at school with your hosts and say your goodbyes.

0830 hrs Transfer to WELLINGTON

0930 hrs Arrive Wellington where you will have further time to exlore.

1300 hrs Arrive at the harbour where you will board the ferry, as foot passengers, to cross the Cook Strait to PICTON, a journey of around 3 hrs.

1405 hrs Ferry departs.

1715 hrs Arrive Picton where you will meet your new coach.

1800 hrs Transfer by coach to NELSON where you will be able to spend some time and have chance to have some lunch (not included).

1930 hrs Meet up with your next set of hosts from NAYLAND COLLEGE NELSON for a two night stay.

After billeting has been arranged staff will stay in a local hotel for two nights on a bed and breakfast basis.

THURSDAY 30 JULY

Staff will transfer to the school to meet with the boys.

The boys will arrive at school with their hosts.

This morning you might like to go kayaking along the coast of the Abel Tasman National Park (not included).

After the games there will be chance to sample some local hospitality and mingle with your hosts.

Staff will return to Arthur Wakefield Motor Inn for the evening.






FRIDAY 31 JULY

0730 hrs Staff will check out of the Arthur Wakefield Motor Inn and transfer to school to meet the boys.

0800 hrs Boys will come to school to meet the staff.

Bid farewell to your hosts and transfer by coach to CHRISTCHURCH.

Christchurch is one of New Zealand’s most ‘English’ towns being named after the Oxford College and containing many English place names.

The city contains many parks, gardens and galleries and the surrounding beaches, lakes and Southern Alps offer a wonderful backdrop to the city.

On arrival you will meet your next hosts from SHIRLEY BOYS’ HIGH SCHOOL where you will be based for three nights.

Staff will transfer to the Scenic Circle Cotswold Hotel for three nights on a bed and breakfast.

SATURDAY 01 AUGUST

Today you will be with your hosts who will most probably have some activity arranged for you.

You might like to visit the Antarctic Centre, which recreates the atmosphere and environment of Antarctica, an interactive and fun experience of the ‘Great White South’.

The city’s heritage trams can take you on an inner city tour visiting sights such as Cathedral Square, the Southern Encounter Aquarium and the Avon River.

Evening at leisure with your hosts.














SUNDAY 02 AUGUST

This morning perhaps take the Christchurch gondola up to Mount Cavendish for some great views of the city and the Canterbury Plains.

Return to your host school to play:

2.30 pm SHIRLEY BOYS’ HIGH SCHOOL v WHITGIFT SCHOOL U-17

Socialise together after the game and this evening.


MONDAY 03 AUGUST

GROUP

0900 hrs Staff will check out of their hotel and transfer to the school to pick up the boys.

0930 hrs Arrive at school with your hosts this morning.

You will have time to do some sightseeing under your own steam today.

1300 hrs Transfer to Timaru a journey of under three hours.




UNDER 14’s

1400 hrs Arrive at Mountain View High School where the under 14 side will be billeted for two nights.

After billeting has been arranged staff will transfer and check in to the Senic Route Motor Lodge for a two night stay on a bed and breakfast basis.

UNDER 17’s

0800 hrs Staff will come to the club to pick up the boys.

0830 hrs Boys arrive at the Geraldine Rugby Club to meet the staff.

0900 hrs Transfer to Timaru where you will be watching your under 14’s play.

0940 hrs Arrive in Timaru and meet up with the under 14’s squad.

You will all have time to spend in Timaru this morning before heading back to Monutainview High School to watch the match

11.45 pm MOUNTAINVIEW HIGH SCHOOL v WHITGIFT SCHOOL U-14

After your match transfer back to Geraldine where you will prepare for your match this evening.

3.00 pm GERALDINE RFC v WHITGIFT SCHOOL U-17

After the match there will be chance to mingle with your opposition and there will be a post match function.



UNDER 14’s

0800 hrs Staff will come to the school to meet the boys.

0830 hrs The boys arrive at school with their hosts.

0940 hrs You will meet up with the under 17 squad who will be arriving this morning from just up the road in Geraldine.

Arrive back at the school and prepare for your match.

11.45 am MOUNTAINVIEW HIGH SCHOOL v WHITGIFT SCHOOL U-14

After the match transfer to Geraldine where you will watch and support the under 17’s.

3.00 pm GERALDINE RFC v WHITGIFT SCHOOL U-17

After the match transfer back to Timaru and go home with your hosts.











WEDNESDAY 05 AUGUST

0730 hrs Staff will check out of their hotel and transfer to meet the boys.

0800 hrs Boys will come to school with their hosts at the beginning of the school day.

0830 hrs Say goodbye to your hosts early this morning and transfer by coach to QUEENSTOWN, through the stunning scenery of the Southern Alps, a journey of around 6 hrs.

1430 hrs Arrive at the Queenstown Lodge where you will be based in your hotel for two nights on a bed and breakfast basis.

Queenstown, known as the ‘Adventure Capital of the World’, is situated right on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, with the aptly named Remarkables and the Eyre Mountains giving the town a stunning backdrop.


THURSDAY 06 AUGUST

Today you can experience THE TRIPLE CHALLENGE.

0830 hrs Depart the hotel for the journey to Cavells Rafting Lodge where you will change into your wet suits before setting off to Frankton Marina.

1000 hrs Board the Twin Rivers Jet for 30 mins of fun on the river.

Once back on dry land transfer to the Helicopter Line Depot at Queenstown Airport.

1050 hrs Board your helicopters for the scenic flight which will conveniently take you to the river ready for your rafting.

1115 hrs ‘Cast off’ and head down the river for an hour of running the rapids. At the end of your rafting experience, transfer back to Cavells Rafting Lodge.

1245 hrs Time for a hot shower, saunas and snacks.

1330 hrs Arrive back at the hotel.

Afternoon Free to sightsee as you please.

FRIDAY 07 AUGUST

1000 hrs Check out of your hotel and store your bags in Reception; you will have the rest of the day to relax in Queenstown.

1415 hrs Transfer to QUEENSTOWN AIRPORT.

1445 hrs Check in to your flight NZ648 to AUCKLAND.

1645 hrs Flight departs (flying time 1 hr 45 mins).

1830 hrs Arrive Auckland Airport and connect with your onward flight NZ002 to LONDON via LOS ANGELES.

2130 hrs Flight departs (flying time 12 hrs 15 mins).

1445 hrs Arrive Los Angles Airport where you will remain in transit for 2 hrs.

1630 hrs Flight departs to London (flying time 10 hrs 30 mins).

Overnight in flight.


SATURDAY 08 AUGUST

1100 hrs Arrive London Heathrow Airport, Terminal 1, and clear UK Immigration and Passport Control, collect your luggage and pass through Customs before being free to disperse for home (own arrangements for getting to/from Heathrow Airport).
